Since Pukka Juice began their journey back in 2017, they’ve built a reputation for great fruity vape flavours, with reputable vape shops like MIST stocking the brand’s vape juice range. With a sea of nic salts popping left and right, it’s interesting to find out if Pukka Juice still have the muscle to stand out. And, Aiden from the MIST team is proud to say that they still do.
The MIST Methodology
Pukka Juice have kindly supplied MIST with seven new e-liquid flavours:
Grape Soda
Blueberry Blackcurrant
Pineapple Ice
Yellow Pear Ice
Raspberry Sherbet
Blaze Bull
Raspberry Blaze
Alongside these seven recently released flavours, the MIST team also received Blue Pear Ice and Blackberry Lime, which are Pukka Juice’s best-sellers. Each nic salt included in the review is 10mg in strength. There are 20mg versions available.
The MIST team used ITO Cartridges from a Voopoo Doric 20 Vape Kit. Each e-liquid is scored between 1 and 10, with 10 being the highest.
Grape Soda
Score: 8/10
Pukka’s Notes: “Bursting with the bold and juicy flavour of fresh grapes, this vape juice captures the essence of a classic soda.”
I love a beverage vape and am on a quest to find the perfect soda vape.
With Pukka Juice’s Grape Soda, there’s an immediate rich perfume from the grapes, like dusky jewels fattened on the vine. It’s a growing flavour that blossoms proudly across the tongue.
The fruity sweetness of the grapes is further enhanced with a touch of sweet sugar to reflect the soda aspect, adding a sugary level-up to the already grandiose grape profile.
Interestingly, there’s very little lingering flavour after the exhale, which is remarkable for a vape juice with no cooling notes. Within seconds, you’ve forgotten the taste and go running back for the next purple puff, making this a vape juice you’ll likely go through rather quickly!
Blueberry Blackcurrant
Score: 8/10
Pukka’s Notes: “offers a delightful balance of sweet and tart.”
The blackcurrant is absolutely gorgeous; honestly one of the best takes on the berry that I’ve tried. It avoids the obvious move of tartness and instead focuses on the sweet aspects that will play well with the blueberry.
Speaking of which, the blueberry once again fulfills the vital role of backup dancer, lending a gently sweet back note to the sugary fruit flavour and ensuring there’s no lingering aftertaste.
The same slight edge of perfume accompanies the sweetness, much like in the Grape Soda juice. Delicate yet vibrant.
Pineapple Ice
Score: 7/10
Pukka’s Notes: “blends the tropical goodness of juicy pineapple with a refreshing icy finish and a hint of lime.” Pineapple vape juices can sometimes be at risk of coming across as rather dull. Pukka has predicted this by adding a hint of lime zest to keep things tangy. By doing so, it prevents the pineapple notes from coming over as a humdrum sunshine flavour. The almost savoury aspect of the pineapple comes across, while the lime maintains a reasonable distance from the flavour centre - a jazzy background dancer hyping up the pineapple’s main floor show. Once again, the ice lends an overall majesty to the flavour profile, resulting in a moreish fruity vape that even those weary of pineapple will find exotic and enticing. Yellow Pear Ice
Score: 8/10
Pukka’s Notes: “delivers a crisp and sweet flavour that will leave you feeling refreshed and invigorated.”
This is a simpler pear vape juice but with the same hint of icy cool that accompanied the Blue version above.
In this juice, the pear comes across far more clearly: the slightly dry aspect of the moreish fruit and a very pleasantly woody note that keeps the fruit from being too sugary.
The ice isn’t too powerful, just enough to prevent the pear juice from lingering too much. Pear is a frankly underutilised vape juice flavour, and Pukka have served up one of the better examples I’ve ever tried with this e-liquid.
Raspberry Sherbert
Score: 7/10
Pukka’s Notes: “captures the essence of ripe raspberries and combines it with the fizzy and sweet sensation of sherbert.”
Sherbert vapes can be hit or miss for me as it’s easy to overdo it. Happily, I can report that Pukka has figured out the balance beautifully!
The raspberry comes in with a highly playful energy, zesty, and sweet in equal measure. The sherbert isn’t shy either but allows the fruit to take centre stage and never strays toward a ‘sorbet’ direction in which many sherbert vapes end up.
It’s extremely sweet, perhaps too much for some, but the perfect level for a candy vape.
Blaze Bull
Score: 9/10
Pukka’s Notes: “inspired by the popular energy drink [...] combines bold flavours with a subtle hint of berry sweetness”
Ah, now that’s a familiar flavour. If you drink as many energy drinks as I do, you’ll immediately detect that characteristic sweet/sour dichotomy of a taurine soda. Berry notes come in afterward, like with pink lemonade, adding a rich and complex sweetness to the otherwise simple flavour profile while never attempting to usurp the energy drink's regent flavour. I think I detect a subtle hint of ice. Just enough to cleanse the palate without drawing attention away from the sweetnesses. Overall, it’s a really excellent soda vape and one of the best energy drink juices I’ve ever tried!
Raspberry Blaze
Score: 10/10
Pukka’s Notes: “juicy raspberries mingle with a touch of ice, creating a tantalizing blend”
Now THIS is sweet! It’s not just raspberry that hits you; it feels as though there’s a touch of blue raspberry in there as well - a delicious sourness that comes in just as powerfully as the sweet edge.
It has a slightly more oomph behind the ice, lending a frosty quality that really works with the tangy elements at play. There is a slight aftertaste but a zesty one that doesn’t become frustrating.
A really excellent take on raspberry vape juice, and my favourite Pukka so far.
Blue Pear Ice
Score: 8/10
Pukka’s Notes: “features sweet and delicious blueberries, juicy pears and lashings of ice!”
Pear can be a complex flavour, so I’m initially a little apprehensive. But then that first wave of juicy fruit vapour hits me, the mature sweetness of the pears clashing delicately against the soft sugar of the blueberries, and all is right with the world. There’s a restrained flavour overall, with hints of powerful fruit flavours that allow the ice to do much of the talking, granting the whole flavour profile a refreshing edge that prevents sweetness from lingering. A very session-worthy fruit vape, and a great use of pear flavour!
Blackberry Lime
Score: 9/10
Pukka’s Notes: “ripe blackberries paired together with a refreshing lime, mint and ice combo!”
Blackberry Lime is a real treat of mixed flavours, quite an unexpectedly complex blend of tastes!
Blackberry is the main character, but the lime adds a zesty playfulness that prevents the juice from getting bogged down in berryville.
But the real dark horse of this liquid is the mint; a delightfully herbal note that really puts across the natural botanical edge of the leaf. Mint adds a festive and refreshing note to the berry and citrus sweetnesses, elevating the overall flavour into a far more sophisticated arena of flavour than the juices we’ve tried.
Pukka Juice provides premium puffs!
Final Score: 9/10
Whew! Pukka made a good call in sticking to fruity vapes, as it’s clearly a taste variety that they understand better than most other manufacturers.
Their use of ice is always very interesting, far more restrained than with other e-liquid lines, never taking the spotlight away from the fruity flavour blends.
There were, of course, a handful of truly standout flavours:
Blackberry Lime - Fantastic use of herbal mint flavour which played perfectly alongside the citrus and berry notes.
Raspberry Blaze - Riotously sweet raspberry blend with a perfect level of sour and a stronger dose of ice than in the other juices.
Blaze Bull - One of the best energy drink vape juices I’ve tried, with berry notes that really bring out the sweet and sour profile.
If you’re a fan of fruity vape juice, you absolutely must try the Pukka Juice range. They have a real appreciation for natural fruit flavours, and their nicotine salts are the perfect thing for a new vaper in search of a sweet session juice.
